🔷 PM Modi Clearly Rejects Third-Party Mediation in Talks with Donald Trump
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 Summit held in Canada. The conversation lasted over 35 minutes, during which PM Modi briefed President Trump about Operation Sindoor and clearly stated that India has never accepted third-party mediation on issues related to Pakistan, nor will it ever accept such involvement in the future.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri informed the media today (Wednesday) about the details of the conversation. He said that PM Modi invited President Trump to India for the next QUAD summit, and Trump gladly accepted, expressing his eagerness to visit.
🔷 “No U.S. Role in India-Pakistan Ceasefire Talks,” Says PM Modi
PM Modi made it crystal clear that the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan did not involve any role from the United States. The conversation, which lasted 35 minutes, saw PM Modi assert that India has always maintained a firm stance against any third-party mediation in its bilateral matters with Pakistan.
🔷 Foreign Secretary Misri’s Statement
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated:
“A meeting between PM Modi and President Trump was initially planned during the G7 Summit. However, due to President Trump’s early return to the U.S., the meeting was cancelled. Later, at Trump’s request, both leaders spoke over the phone. It was their first interaction since the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, after which President Trump had earlier called to express condolences and support in the fight against terrorism. PM Modi also discussed the ongoing Operation Sindoor in detail.”
🔷 First Call Between Modi and Trump Since Operation Sindoor
Misri emphasized that PM Modi informed President Trump that there was no discussion at any level involving the U.S. regarding Operation Sindoor, any India-U.S. trade deals, or mediation between India and Pakistan. The military de-escalation was coordinated directly between Indian and Pakistani forces, using existing communication channels, and at Pakistan’s own request.
🔷 U.S. Vice President Warned India on May 9 Night
According to Misri, on the night of May 9, U.S. Vice President JD Vance had called PM Modi to warn about a possible major attack by Pakistan. PM Modi responded firmly, saying that if such an attack happened, India would respond even more strongly. That same night, between May 9 and 10, India retaliated powerfully, causing heavy damage to Pakistani military targets.
🔷 “Operation Sindoor Is Still Ongoing,” Says PM Modi
PM Modi told President Trump that India no longer views terrorism as a proxy war, but as an actual war, and Operation Sindoor is still ongoing. He reiterated India’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and fighting terrorism with full force.
🔷 Leaders Plan to Meet in the Near Future
President Trump asked PM Modi whether he could stop in the U.S. while returning from Canada. However, due to prior commitments, PM Modi declined. Both leaders agreed to plan an in-person meeting soon.
